5. INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT ,INDORE

Indian Institute of Management Indore - the youngest sibling in the family of IIMs - has travelled quite a distance, since its inception ten years ago. Rubbing shoulders with some well established giants, IIM Indore has now carved a niche for itself in the corporate world and the eight batches that have passed out stand testimony to the fact. The essence of management, IIMI believes, lies in managing one's own ambitions and forging ahead consciously. (Quite a radical definition, this one!)"A strong theoretical foundation is the basis of good corporate practice" – this, coupled with a grounding in management as it is practiced, is the underlying theme of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP). Spanning two years the programme is benchmarked against similar programmes of the best business schools in the world. Experiential learning, IT orientation, and Social SensitivitybSocial Sensitivity are some of the unique features of the programme. To back this up IIM Indore has a solid infrastructure ranging from a 193 acre campus to a strong IT backbone to the latest in teaching aids.IIM Indore’s achievement in such a short span of time can be attributed to its innovative spirit and its will to excel.and, to a great extent, to the relationship it has developed with the Indore community.

Financial Assistance / Scholarships
IIMI tries to ensure that no participant is denied an opportunity to pursue the Post-Graduate Programme in Management for want of adequate financial resources.
The institute has evolved a Need-based Financial Assistance (NBFA) scheme from the academic year 2004-2005 to provide financial support to needy PGP participants. These scholarships are awarded annually to needy students from economically disadvantaged families. All students admitted to the PGP whose gross annual family incomes does not exceed Rs. 2,00,000 during the financial year are eligible to apply for the NBFA Scheme. The scheme provides full tuition fee refund to such participants. The income criterion for the scheme is likely to revise upwards this year i.e. 2009-10.
In addition, those participants who cannot finance their education at IIMI on their own are provided assistance in raising loans from institutional financing agencies.
Few industry-sponsored merit scholarships, based on the performance in the first year courses, are also available at the beginning of the second year.
PLACEMENTS
Like the destination at the end of a long journey, placements produce the same kind of excitement and relief in the students at IIMI. After a gruelling regime for the last two years, the PGP participants at IIMI are gearing up for the companies coming onto campus and are looking forward to the culmination of their efforts in the attractive jobs that will be offered. The placement cell at IIMI is involved right from the beginning.
